The Power of Forgiveness

The Power of Forgiveness
marcia3As you begin your New Year, I am certain that you have imagined or decided to make some positive changes that will make a difference in your life as well as those you deeply care for.

Once again, you are determined to get it right this year. You pause a moment and ask yourself, “Is this a realistic goal? Is this just my imagination? Is this really possible in my lifetime?”

Before you dismiss your plan for improvement for January, let’s take a closer look at why you may have not been successful in the past year.

Let me remind you that “successful people do simple things extraordinary well.” In other words, it’s important to review your past plan of action to determine how consistent you were in sticking to your action steps.

You may response to yourself thinking “I wish I had kept a calendar or journal of my attempts to succeed. My memory for my consistency has slipped away with the hope and excitement I once felt. My memory recalls only my disappointment, my pain, my anger, my aching heart and head which all played a large part in my inability to focus and to have faith in my dream.

Let’s take a moment to stop right here, right now. I wonder, where does your emotional obstacle get its strength to overcome your dream? Could it be your reluctance to forgive an unkind or thoughtless act? Have you refused to let go of the anger, the pain, the disappointment and with your decision allowed your energy to be consumed by a negative attitude?

Now that you have rediscovered the source of your obstacle and realized you have played a large part in your current position in life, are you ready to be revived? Are you ready for a new opportunity to live and grow?

As you seriously consider your choice to (1) live, enjoy, and appreciate the moment versus (2) continue feeding the past with your soul and mind, remember that the energy you release will return to you.

I encourage you this month to recognize the power of forgiveness and reclaim the energy , peace of mind, and success that is rightfully yours.

In closing remember the words of Martin Luther King, Jr. Forgiveness is not an occasional act: it is an attitude.” Now, that is definitely within your power!
