As you sit and imagine your purpose and greatness, remember that “To whom much is given, much is required. You may now wonder how much?
Character consists of what you do after several attempts of failure. In fact, your attempts could be countless times of requiring you to be true to yourself and dreams and is included in your “how much”.
Let me remind you that it has been documented in history that failures and disappointments are a part of the process leading to success. In other words, much time, as well as character, is required in return for reaching your greatness and receiving your benefits.
Studies reveal that Thomas Edison failed over 1,000 times before succeeding with his light bulb and that
Henry Ford failed countless times before being successful with his horseless carriage known today as the automobile. Keeping faith and focus, in spite of discouragement from family and friends, was his testimony.
From the 1800’s to the present time, Black History reflects great accomplishments that required much time, suffering, and focus as well as many obstacles and sacrifices which lead to the success of many of our leaders.
Booker T. Washington (April 5, 1856 – November 14, 1915), a great educator and founder of Tuskegee University, stated “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life but by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.”
In closing, remember to: (1) Courageously ask for what you want, (2) Be careful what you ask for, and (3) Realize that to whom much is given, much is required.
Now Imagine your benefits keeping in mind that much time, many failures and disappointments, as well as much faith and focus is required in order to position yourself to overcome your obstacles and to become successful in reaching your dream and purpose.
I challenge you to do this and you will be making history!
